In a shocking move, Chelsea has reportedly tabled a massive €70 million (£60.5 million) offer to secure the services of Juventus' rising star, Kenan Yildiz. This bid comes as Juventus has revealed its stance on this coveted talent's soaring value.
Yildiz, a 20-year-old forward hailing from Germany and representing Turkey internationally, has established himself as one of Juventus' most exciting players. After making his debut last August, he dazzled fans with an impressive 12 goals and nine assists across 52 appearances last season. His current season is off to a sensational start, already notching one goal and three assists in just three matches, including a stunning 30-yard strike during Juve's thrilling 4-3 victory over Inter Milan.
Tuttosport first reported that both Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in Yildiz this summer. Over the weekend, Calciomercato confirmed Chelsea's bold bid, although it was swiftly rejected by Juventus, who views the youngster as 'practically unsellable.' With 23 caps for Turkey, the club considers Yildiz their 'poster boy' and is unwilling to let him go without enormous compensation.
Just a year ago, Yildiz was valued at around €10 million (£8.6 million), but his worth has skyrocketed to over €100 million (£86.5 million) as Juventus executives recognize his potential.
To secure their star player, Juventus is planning to reward Yildiz with a lucrative new five-year contract that promises a substantial pay rise, potentially bringing his wages close to £100,000 per week. If Yildiz accepts this offer, the prospect of his departure from Turin becomes increasingly unlikely.
Should he continue his fantastic form this season, Chelsea might be compelled to make another attempt for the young prodigy. However, as it stands, Yildiz appears set to remain at Juventus for at least the next couple of years.
Football fans can't help but imagine the impact Yildiz could have had at Chelsea, given his knack for weaving through defenders and scoring remarkable goals. Nonetheless, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca does have an exciting roster of forwards already, including the likes of Joao Pedro, who has made an immediate impact, as well as Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho competing for a left-wing position.
Adding to that, Chelsea has bolstered its squad with the signing of Estevao Willian after a deal struck earlier in the summer. Plus, talisman Cole Palmer is regaining form and recently scored in a 2-2 draw against Brentford.
