Exciting News for Pastry Lovers
If you’ve been missing the delicious creations from Le Matin Patisserie ever since its sudden closure at Ion Orchard earlier this year, we have some exciting news! Renowned chef Mohamed Al-Matin is making a comeback, and this time he’s joining forces with the farm-to-table restaurant Air CCCC for a delightful new breakfast initiative called "Sunrise."
Indulge in Delectable Treats
Starting November 15, pastry lovers can indulge in an array of delectable treats every Friday to Sunday from 8 a.m. until they sell out. Expect mouthwatering offerings such as the Kenari Nut Twice Baked Croissant priced at S$7 and the Sourdough Croissant for S$4. Given Al-Matin's impressive background as a former pastry sous chef at the world-renowned Noma, the quality and artistry of these pastries are sure to impress.
About Air CCCC
Air CCCC, situated in the picturesque Dempsey Hill, is only nine months old and was established by a talented trio: Matthew Orlando, who honed his skills at Noma; Will Goldfarb, known for the prestigious Room4Dessert in Bali; and Ronald Akili, founder of the popular Potato Head chain. This partnership marks Air’s inaugural venture into breakfast offerings, expanding their appeal beyond lunch and dinner service.
Perfect Coffee Pairing
What’s brunch without perfect coffee? Enjoy a selection of brews from local brand Maxi Coffee, including the exquisite Ijen CM Pink Honey Coffee, renowned for its fruity beans sourced from East Java.
A Collaboration Rooted in Community
When questioned about his partnership with Air, Chef Al-Matin stated, “I’ve known chefs Matt and Will for a long time, and we’ve always discussed the possibility of collaborating. The ethos of Air focuses on community and collaboration; hence, we’re launching Sunrise as part of the broader Sunrise-Sunset initiative at their front lawn. It’s a perfect opportunity to reintroduce Le Matin pastries to Singapore.”
Focus on the Future
Curious about the circumstances surrounding the closure of Le Matin’s Ion Orchard, Al-Matin opted to remain tight-lipped. “We prefer to focus on the present and future. Our goal is to bring delicious pastries to the people in Singapore,” he remarked diplomatically, emphasizing that while the original cafe may have closed, the Le Matin brand still thrives.
Details of the Collaboration
The breakfast collaboration's duration at Air CCCC remains uncertain, with no confirmed end date or clarity on whether it will be a long-term venture. Keep your ears to the ground for updates!
Follow Chef Al-Matin's Journey
For those seeking to experience Chef Al-Matin’s innovative creations outside of Air, the chef invites you to follow his Instagram account. He frequently hosts monthly pop-ups, including his latest dessert concept called "Apres," recently launched at the Japanese hand roll bar Rappu.
