By 4 A.M., these two celestial giants will be positioned about 15° above the horizon. Gazing toward the lower left, you can also spot the brilliant Venus adding to the cosmic scene.

Spotting the Planets

Saturn shines bright at magnitude 1.1, easily visible to the naked eye. However, Neptune is trickier, with a magnitude of 7.8 requiring binoculars or a telescope to reveal its beauty.

Separated by just 1.7°, Saturn and Neptune will fit beautifully in the field of view of your binoculars or telescope. Through a telescope, Saturn’s disk spans 17”, showcasing its stunning rings that stretch 38”. With a tilt of 3° toward us, viewers will see its southern face and may even catch a glimpse of Titan, Saturn's largest moon, located about 1.5’ east of the planet.

Neptune's Enigmatic Glow

Meanwhile, Neptune presents itself as a tiny disk just 2” wide, appearing like a flat, bluish-gray star located northeast of Saturn. This distant planet adds a touch of mystery to the early morning sky.
