SINGAPORE: The Singapore Mint has officially launched an exclusive collection to celebrate the nation's 60th anniversary! On March 13, they unveiled an exciting array of commemorative items including medallions, bookmarks, and figurines, all designed to encapsulate Singapore's rich history and culture.

The SG60 collection will be released in phases throughout the year, promising something special for every Singaporean and collector alike. One standout series, known as "Jalan Jalan Through Heritage Districts of Singapore," features a stunning set of 1 oz 999 fine silver proof medallions, each highlighting one of five historic neighborhoods: Changi, Jurong, Tiong Bahru, Toa Payoh, and Queenstown.

According to the Singapore Mint, “The obverse design of the medallion celebrates the present, while the reverse offers a nostalgic view of the past, capturing the transformation of these cherished neighborhoods.” Limited to just 2,000 pieces per design, these medallions aim to underscore the rich heritage of Singapore’s vibrant local areas, showcasing iconic landmarks including the Chinese Garden and the beloved Toa Payoh Dragon Playground.

Additionally, gold-plated colored bookmarks featuring the same beloved districts are also on offer, further extending the collection’s appeal. Medallions are available for purchase now, though collectors eager for the Queenstown design will need to preorder, as it will be released in September along with the corresponding bookmarks.

Prices for the silver medallions are set at S$120 (approximately $90) each, with the Queenstown version priced slightly lower at S$100. The gold-plated bookmarks are affordably priced at S$15, making them a delightful souvenir for visitors and residents alike.

Another notable item within the SG60 collection is the Kebaya: Threads of Cultural Beauty Seven-piece Coloured Magnet Display Set, paying homage to Singapore’s first multinational UNESCO inscription, "Kebaya: Knowledge, Skills, Traditions, and Practices." This beautiful magnet display set, priced at S$70, features seven traditional kebaya styles with interchangeable blouses and skirts—reflecting the artistry and cultural richness of Southeast Asia’s heritage.
