In a shocking twist, a woman who claimed to have met former DBS CEO Piyush Gupta has accused her social media manager of fabricating the entire story to gain attention! Janney Hujic went viral after posting about a supposed "chance encounter" with Gupta but now insists she had no knowledge of the post.

Initially shared on LinkedIn, the now-deleted post featured a photo of Hujic alongside a man in a floral shirt, who was later identified as Kumar H Subramaniam—a case of mistaken identity that Gupta himself quickly debunked, stating, "Sorry to disillusion you. That isn’t me!"

As the story unraveled, Subramaniam clarified that he had jokingly posed for the picture with Hujic and her friend after they mistakenly identified him as Gupta. He expressed his discontent regarding the use of his image without consent.

But the drama didn’t stop there! Hujic, who was in Vietnam without internet access when the post went viral, claimed her freelance social media manager from the Philippines demanded S$5,000 to remove the post. According to Hujic, the manager went as far as changing the login details of her accounts!

Screenshots of their conversations reveal the extent of the extortion, as the manager insisted on payment for account recovery, sparking outrage among online commentators. "Peak LinkedIn," many said, mocking the performative nature of her original post.

Adding to the chaos, Hujic also faced scrutiny over her alleged fundraising efforts for the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund (GCTEF). The organization formally distanced itself from her claims, stating that Hujic and her company, Elysian Expeditions, have not been authorized to fundraise on their behalf. They noted that Hujic had yet to provide clarifications on her intentions.

Hujic maintains that she sought authorization for the fundraising but has yet to clarify the details surrounding the expedition and her company's relationship with GCTEF.

As this bizarre saga unfolds, one thing is for certain: the intricacies of social media can lead to unintended—and often wild—consequences!
