Hold onto your controllers! Capcom has just dropped a cheeky teaser for Resident Evil 9 amid the excitement of hitting a jaw-dropping 10 million players for Resident Evil 4.

Earlier today, the creative minds behind Resident Evil 4 released a quirky video showcasing Ada Wong chatting with one of the franchise’s most notorious villains. The scene quickly transitions to Leon, who finds himself surrounded by a horde of infected enemies—each wearing party hats as they make their way towards the church in a bizarrely festive atmosphere.

The video kicks into high gear with a rock anthem playing as Dr. Salvador strums his chainsaw like a rock star—yes, you read that right! As the camera sweeps back, we see a pumped-up Leon right next to a rustic sign that reads, "Thank you for playing." But wait! Flip that sign on its side, and the arrangement of the planks spells out the Roman numeral "IX," or 9.

While some might argue this could be mere coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem pointed out that the lower plank wasn’t present in earlier clips, suggesting this was a deliberate choice.

Fans are buzzing, with one shocked viewer exclaiming, "I know what you did here!" more than just a hint sparked their excitement.

What’s more, Capcom has confirmed that the next installment in the Resident Evil series will be helmed by the director of Resident Evil 7, Koshi Nakanishi. Nakanishi has teased, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7], but I found it, and it feels substantial. I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest that this next adventure may take place on an island inspired by Singapore.

Stay tuned, survival horror fans—Resident Evil 9 might just be closer than we think!
