SINGAPORE: A breakfast order turned into a viral sensation when a diner shared a shocking image of the minuscule butter portions he received at a popular coffee shop in Tampines.

Sri Nair expressed his disbelief at the “shrinkflation” phenomenon that seems to be plaguing the nation, where portions shrink while prices remain steep.

Nair’s breakfast included a classic Kopi O kosong and Milo kosong, accompanied by toasted bread, for which he paid S$4.70. What he found particularly troubling was the exceedingly small slivers of what was labeled as butter. “I didn’t want kaya; my expectation was to receive a decent serving of margarine or butter. Instead, I got these matchstick-sized slivers!” he lamented.
