JOHOR BAHRU: Major Drug Operation Uncovered

A major drug trafficking operation that cleverly stored illicit substances in vehicles has been dismantled, leading to the arrest of four individuals, including the mastermind behind the scheme. The arrests were made during a dramatic operation on Wednesday, showcasing the relentless efforts of the Johor police to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

Details of the Arrests

According to Johor police chief Datuk M Kumar, the suspects, aged between 29 to 49 years old, were apprehended in coordinated raids conducted in the areas of Kulai and Skudai. These criminals operated by sourcing drugs from Kuala Lumpur, where they repackaged the narcotics into smaller quantities before cleverly concealing them under the bonnets of their vehicles.

Operation Methodology

The syndicate would transport these drug packs to various known hotspots around the city for distribution,” Kumar revealed during a press conference held at the Johor contingent police headquarters.

Significant Drug Seizures

In a significant seizure, authorities confiscated a staggering 55.9 kilograms (kg) of cannabis, 11.7 kg of heroin, 122.7 grams (g) of methamphetamine, 21 g of eramin 5 pills, and 70 g of ecstasy pills. The total street value of these drugs is estimated at RM309,192. Alongside the drugs, police also seized two vehicles, a motorcycle, a necklace, and a cash sum amounting to RM120,173.

Previous Convictions and Further Investigation

The investigation revealed that all suspects had previous convictions and connections to drug offenses, with two individuals testing positive for illegal substances. The implicated parties will remain in custody for further questioning until October 2, as investigators pursue legal charges under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
