Get Ready for Long Waits!
SINGAPORE - Travellers, prepare for some serious delays! As Good Friday approaches, expect longer-than-usual immigration clearance times at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.
Heavy Traffic Forecasted
According to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), between April 17 and April 21, these land checkpoints will be inundated with traffic. This long weekend is notorious for being the busiest of the year.
Staggering Stats!
Last year, over 1.8 million travellers crossed these borders during the Hari Raya Puasa long weekend. On the peak day alone, the number skyrocketed to more than 538,000! Expect similar chaos as nearly 2.3 million are forecasted to travel this Good Friday weekend.
Plan Ahead to Beat the Crowds!
If you're planning to hit the road, brace yourself for potential waits of up to three hours at peak times. To dodge the gridlock, consider opting for cross-border bus services which might provide a quicker alternative.
What You Can Do!
ICA urges all travellers to cooperate with their officers and keep traffic rules in mind. Stay updated on traffic conditions before you head out, and take advantage of QR codes for a quicker immigration process.
Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You!
If you’re looking to escape the hassle this Good Friday weekend, plan wisely, and maybe even consider travelling at off-peak hours. Safe travels!
