In an unusual twist to the crime scene, a thief was caught on CCTV stealing a pair of $20 Nike slides from outside a flat on Yishun Avenue 11 on August 16, leaving behind much more valuable footwear. The incident occurred at 12:38 AM, as shared by local resident Jannah.

The footage reveals the man casually checking the shoe cabinet before making off with the slides. What’s even more bizarre? He was spotted lifting the slides to his nose for a sniff before walking away!

Jannah expressed her fear when she woke up to the unsettling footage, stating, "Honestly, I felt scared watching the clip from my phone." Fortunately for her, the thief opted for the cheap slides instead of her premium Skechers or $300 Mizuno football shoes.

With rising concerns about safety, she promptly filed a police report, stating, "My number one concern is delivery guys sometimes shop at night. What if they stole my orders? I've had deliveries arrive at 4 AM before."
