A Sneaky App Store Scandal!
In a shocking turn of events, Apple’s App Store has let through yet another unofficial mobile port of a trending game—this time, it’s the highly anticipated Blue Prince. Just as word spread about this phony app, it mysteriously vanished from the App Store.
Who’s Behind This Scam?
Blue Prince’s developer, Dogubomb, alongside publisher Raw Fury, issued a warning after receiving reports about fraudulent games purporting to be Blue Prince on iOS. As it stands, the real game remains exclusive to Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
A Deceptively Official Look!
Before its untimely removal, searching "Blue Prince" on the App Store led straight to this deceptive clone, which topped the search results. The app featured an icon resembling a mobile version of the real game, complete with screenshots and a description that mimicked the official Steam listing.
Red Flags Everywhere!
However, digging deeper revealed alarming discrepancies. The seller was listed as 'Samet Altinay', a name with no ties to Blue Prince production, while the copyright bizarrely misspelled Dogubomb as “DogBomb.”
A Buggy Adventure!
Intrigued, I purchased this fake version for $9.99 to investigate. Upon playing on my iPhone 16 Pro, I quickly discovered it was a shoddy replica of the actual game, retrofitted with minor tweaks like a virtual joystick. But my excitement was short-lived—experiencing a major flaw, I literally fell through the floor when attempting to walk through a door in the Entrance Hall!
Refunds on the Horizon?
Before it was yanked from the store, this counterfeit app had climbed to #8 in the Entertainment category, albeit with just one three-star review highlighting the same bug I encountered. If you've unwittingly bought this clone, don’t fret—you might be eligible for a refund! Apple provides a guide on requesting refunds on their official site.
Official iOS Port? Not Yet!
As of now, Dogubomb and Raw Fury haven't announced any plans for a legitimate iOS port of Blue Prince. They stated, 'We have no news about other platforms at this time, but if that changes we will make an official announcement.' In the meantime, they urge players to avoid these knockoff apps.
Copycat Crisis Continues!
This isn’t the first time Apple has allowed imitation games—titles like Wordle and Palworld have also slipped through the cracks. Will Apple tighten its grip on App Store security? Time will tell!
