In a thrilling showdown on Saturday, RB Leipzig's Yussuf Poulsen delivered a stunning stoppage-time goal that secured a 3-3 draw against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, denying Harry Kane the chance to claim his first professional trophy.
Bayern faced an uphill battle, trailing 2-0 at halftime. However, a dramatic second-half turnaround saw them score two quick goals and gain a brief lead, only for Poulsen’s late heroics to snatch away their victory.
Currently sitting at 76 points, Bayern is still nine points clear of reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen, who play Freiburg next. With just two matches left and a superior goal difference, Bayern needs either a draw or a Leverkusen loss to secure their 34th league title.
As for Leipzig, the draw keeps them firmly in contention for a top-four finish and a coveted spot in next season's Champions League.
The match began in favor of the hosts, with Leipzig applying relentless pressure from the first whistle. Just 11 minutes in, Benjamin Sesko scored a beautifully curled shot, capitalizing on a swift counter-attack initiated by Xavi Simons.
Unfortunately for Bayern, the league’s leading scorer, Kane, was suspended and left watching the match from the stands, contributing to their lack of offensive potency.
Things took a turn for the worse for Bayern shortly before halftime when Lukas Klostermann headed in a free kick from David Raum, extending Leipzig's lead to 2-0.
But the Bavarians roared back in the second half. Eric Dier ignited their comeback with a header off Michael Olise’s corner before Olise himself scored just a minute later, bringing the score to 2-2.
Bayern seemed destined for victory when Leroy Sané netted in the 83rd minute, and Kane descended from his viewing perch to prepare for the celebration with his teammates.
Yet, with mere seconds left on the clock, Poulsen stunned the Bayern faithful by chipping the ball over goalkeeper Jonas Urbig to level the score. Now, Bayern finds themselves with the chance to clinch the championship in front of their home crowd next week against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
