Exciting developments are happening aboard China's Tiangong space station as the Shenzhou XX mission crew has recently unpacked and tested two brand-new spacewalk suits. This marks a significant upgrade in the capabilities of astronauts, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

Mission commander Senior Colonel Chen Dong and crew members Colonel Chen Zhongrui and Colonel Wang Jie were instrumental in this process, having received the suits via the Tianzhou 9 robotic cargo ship. The team moved the suits to their designated spacewalk preparation area, rigorously checking their functionality.

These new suits are set to replace the existing ones, which have proudly served during 21 previous Chinese spacewalks. The next-generation suits promise a longer lifespan, enhanced safety features, and greater operational ease, offering a quantum leap in reliability and performance.

But that’s not all! In addition to gearing up for future walks in space, the crew embarked on a series of advanced scientific experiments. They initiated a groundbreaking study utilizing organ-on-a-chip technology to delve into the effects of space conditions on the human blood-brain barrier and brain function. This research is vital for predicting potential health risks during long-duration space missions.

Furthermore, the team studied bone metabolism and flora-nutrition balances, with Commander Chen Dong employing a Raman spectrometer for detecting urinary metabolites—a crucial step for understanding astronaut health.

The crew didn't stop there; they also collected throat swabs to study the impact of respiratory microbes in the space station. These samples have been preserved for future analysis back on Earth.

On the tech side, they tested microbial levels in the cabin to evaluate the effectiveness of disinfection protocols, set up new equipment for advanced material-energy conversion systems, and replaced burners for combustion experiments.

Adding a twist to their duties, the astronauts have begun a trial run of an innovative mixed-reality training device and installed a specialized refrigerator in the Wentian lab module.

Having spent over three months in orbit since their arrival on April 25, these three astronauts are making substantial contributions to space exploration, paving the way for future missions!
