A Bold New Chapter for Singapore's National Day Parade

SINGAPORE – Get ready for an extraordinary showcase at the 2025 National Day Parade (NDP)! This year's parade pack will proudly feature seven vibrant designs, each celebrating the artistic visions of 41 talented artists with disabilities.

Voices of Hope: Artists from All Walks of Life

Ranging in age from just 10 to 73 years old, these artists are infusing their hopes and dreams for Singapore into their creations. Themes such as Multiculturalism, Resilience, Openness, and Boldness resonate through their work, aiming to depict the nation’s rich tapestry.

Collaboration with ART:DIS

The designs are primarily the work of 21 artists from ART:DIS, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities in the arts. Their imaginations have given rise to themes that not only reflect personal aspirations but also embody the collective spirit of the nation.

Youthful Creativity Shines Through

Meanwhile, 20 students aged 10 to 18 from special education schools have contributed their insights into the other themes—Care, Contribute, and Future. This collaboration is supported by SG Enable, a charity focused on advancing disability and inclusion in Singapore.

What’s Inside the NDP Pack?

Major Desmond Lim, chairman of the NDP 2025 pack committee, teased that the packs will contain refreshing snacks to energize attendees during the event. Also included will be interactive items like clappers to enhance the festive atmosphere.

A Sustainable Presentation

The artwork will be printed on eco-friendly recycled polyester tote bags, and it’s exciting to note that elements will also feature in a special National Day 2025 stamp set by Singapore Post.

A Commemorative Celebration,

In a historic twist, the live show on August 9 will expand from the iconic Padang to the stunning Marina Bay, marking Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence. This broader canvas promises to deliver a spectacular visual feast.

Local Culture at the Forefront

Among the themes, Multiculturalism stands out, celebrating Singapore's diversity with symbols like ketupat, a traditional Malay delicacy, and capteh, a beloved local game. Meanwhile, the Future theme highlights innovation through the lens of technology and artificial intelligence.

Empowerment Through Art

The Resilience theme honors the strength shown by Singaporeans through tough times, while Care illustrates community spirit amidst residential living. Rihansh Manoj Chugani, a 12-year-old with cerebral palsy, enthusiastically presented his artwork featuring HDB blocks, stating their significance in representing national pride.

Expressions of Community

Madam Tay Bee Lian, 73, contributed by calligraphically expressing the Mandarin greeting "How are you?" She shared her pride in being part of the NDP pack, reflecting a sentiment that resonates deeply within the community.

Recognition and Inclusion

MAJ Lim expressed hope that this collaboration would honor the artists' talents and foster appreciation for their unique perspectives. Angela Tan, executive director of ART:DIS, expressed joy in the significant inclusion of artists with disabilities in the National Day celebrations.

Continuing the Legacy

This partnership marks a milestone, with SG Enable joining forces with parade organizers for the sixth consecutive year. CEO Lee May Gee emphasized the importance of this national platform, allowing student artists to express their stories while nurturing their aspirations for Singapore.

A Celebration to Remember

Mark your calendars for August 9! The NDP 2025 promises not only to celebrate the nation’s history but also to spotlight the extraordinary talents within the community, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
