In a recent announcement, Amy Khor, the Member of Parliament for Hong Kah North SMC, expressed her unwavering commitment to serve the residents of her constituency. This statement follows the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee's decision to dissolve her constituency into neighboring Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) — Jurong East-Bukit Batok and Chua Chu Kang GRC.

During a walkabout at Bukit Batok West hawker centre on Saturday, March 22, Khor was joined by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who is also the MP for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC. In response to questions regarding her future plans amid the electoral changes, Khor indicated that the decision on her candidacy in the next election would ultimately be up to PM Wong, who also serves as the Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP).

Khor decisively stated, "In the meantime, I will continue to focus on serving residents and really understanding their needs." She highlighted her recent accomplishment of opening the new Bukit Batok West hawker centre, which she described as part of her ongoing efforts to improve residents' living conditions.

Reflecting on her 24 years of service in the Hong Kah North area, Khor discussed the meaningful connections she has developed with the community. "I've seen residents whom I've given Edusave bursaries to, and they greet me with their families, recalling fond memories," she shared. Such moments are precious to her, and she has even been invited to celebrate milestones like housewarming events and weddings by the residents she serves.

During the walkabout, Khor and PM Wong also officiated the opening of the Tengah Community Club, alongside South-West District Mayor Low Yen Ling and Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong. The opening was celebrated as a significant milestone for the Tengah area's development, with Khor encouraging residents to engage in various community activities, such as yoga and cooking classes, which will be offered at the CC with a 20% discount for early sign-ups.

Addressing transport connectivity concerns in Tengah, Khor reassured residents that enhancements would be made, including improved bus service frequencies and the introduction of new routes, alongside the development of the forthcoming Jurong Region Line. Future amenities will include primary schools, shopping centers, polyclinics, and a community hospital.

Khor echoed PM Wong's sentiments, stating, "We are not done building." She emphasized the importance of continually improving facilities and services to meet the evolving needs of the residents.

In his speech, PM Wong likened the development of Tengah to that of the previously underdeveloped Punggol region, stating, "In Tengah today, you can see things already starting to take shape. In another few years' time, I'm sure this will be even better." He stressed that community development is not only about infrastructure but also about fostering strong connections among residents, which contribute to a vibrant and inclusive environment.

As the community continues to grow, Khor's dedication to service and Wong's vision for a cohesive community signal an optimistic future for both the residents of Tengah and Bukit Batok.
