ALARMING TRENDS: Why Over Half of Us Hit Snooze Every Morning & How to Break Free!

If you often find yourself frantically tapping the snooze button on your phone each morning, you're in good company. A recent global study has revealed that more than half of smartphone users are guilty of this habit.

With the accessibility of our smartphones, snoozing alarms has become easier than ever. But sleep experts warn that this habit could leave us more exhausted than refreshed after all.

Rebecca Robbins, Ph.D., a sleep scientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, suggests that while snoozing is common, it's not as widely explored in medical research.

Snoozing: A Widespread Habit?

In a study published in Scientific Reports, Robbins and her team examined sleep data from over 21,000 users of the SleepCycle app, which defaults snooze intervals to five minutes.

Out of approximately 3 million recorded sleep sessions, a staggering 56% involved people hitting the snooze button. On average, participants pressed snooze 2.5 times and spent about 11 minutes prolonging their wake-up call. Alarmingly, 45% of users were identified as "heavy snoozers,
