A16z Opens Applications for SR005

A16z has officially opened applications for its highly awaited fifth edition of the Speedrun series, named SR005. This unique 12-week startup acceleration program set to kick off on July 28 in Los Angeles, is poised to invest up to an astonishing $1 million into each selected venture. The grand finale, Demo Day, is scheduled for October 7 during the vibrant SF Tech Week, where the chosen startups will showcase their innovations.

The Speedrun program commonly attracts entrepreneurial minds from the realms of artificial intelligence and interactive technology, covering diverse projects including innovative tools, immersive experiences, games, and entertainment. However, aspiring applicants should brace themselves for intense competition; A16z reports that only a mere 1% of hopeful candidates will earn a spot in this coveted event. Those fortunate enough to be selected will not only receive significant financial backing but will also benefit from tailored feedback from the A16z team, along with access to a robust network of industry mentors, advisors, and seasoned alumni.

The momentum for SR005 follows the successful previous cohort, SR004, which showcased 42 companies selected from a staggering pool of over 6,000 applicants. This impressive cohort included a staggering 69% AI-native ventures spanning multiple sectors such as commerce, development, and storytelling. Additionally, it featured founders from a diverse array of countries including Canada, Israel, Turkey, the UK, and Sweden. With such a legacy of success, the bar is set high for the upcoming Speedrun participants.
