In a shocking turn of events, Zak Starkey, the celebrated drummer and son of Ringo Starr, has announced his departure from the iconic rock band The Who after nearly three decades.

Starkey’s exit comes on the heels of a serious health issue. He revealed to People magazine that he faced a medical emergency involving blood clots in his calf. Thankfully, he has fully recovered and asserts that his health no longer affects his drumming abilities.

Reflecting on his time with the band, Starkey expressed immense pride, stating, "Filling the shoes of my Godfather, ‘uncle Keith’ has been the biggest honor, and I remain their biggest fan. They’ve been like family to me." This heartfelt sentiment underscores the emotional bond he shares with the legendary group.

However, recent tensions emerged during a concert when frontman Roger Daltrey reportedly had difficulties hearing over the drums, leading to apparent friction with Starkey. In response, Starkey expressed his surprise and sadness over the situation, saying, "What can you do?"

Looking ahead, Starkey plans to take a much-needed break with his family. He also has exciting projects on the horizon, including the release of ‘Domino Bones’ by Mantra Of The Cosmos, featuring Noel Gallagher, set for May, and is working on his autobiography.

In his parting words, Starkey remarked, "29 years at any job is a good old run, and I wish them the best." With this departure, fans and musicians alike are left to ponder the end of an era.
