For over three weeks now, the Yankees have been on a downward spiral, outplayed by their opponents and, shockingly, tripping over their own feet.
The legendary 1927 Yankees faced formidable foes daily, but fast forward to 2025 and this Yankees squad appears to be incapable of overcoming even their greatest adversary: themselves.
Hats off to the Mets for claiming victory in the first two matches of this Subway Series, including a stunning 12-6 win on Saturday. They've deftly navigated their pitching challenges using backup players, and their current four-game winning streak speaks volumes.
However, there's an undeniable advantage when facing a rival struggling with consistency. The Mets capitalized on the Yankees’ weaknesses, showcasing powerful offense with two and three-run homers from Pete Alonso and a game-changing first-inning grand slam from Brandon Nimmo off Carlos Rodón, a moment made all the more poignant by the Yankees’ blunders that loaded the bases.
Is this simply a rough patch for the Yankees, or could it be a window into a grim future? Only time will tell, but the signs of self-sabotage are impossible to ignore.
