In an alarming development, GoveeLife and Govee have announced a recall of 512,000 smart electric space heaters distributed across the United States due to serious overheating risks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) highlighted that these heaters could pose 'fire and burn hazards' if not addressed immediately.

Immediate Action Required: Stop Using Recalled Heaters!

The CPSC has instructed owners of the affected heaters to cease use right away. The recalled models include H7130, H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134, and H7135.

In a statement, the CPSC indicated that comprehensive testing revealed these heaters do not meet the voluntary industry safety standards outlined in UL 1278, primarily due to issues linked with their wireless control features. Alarmingly, there have already been 113 reported cases of heaters overheating, which have resulted in one minor burn injury and seven incidents involving flames.

Important Recall Information

In Canada, an additional 48,600 heaters are also under recall. Consumers who possess any of these heaters are entitled to a refund. To claim their money back, customers must take and submit photos of the product's manufacturer label and the heater itself with its power cord cut, alongside their order number. It is crucial to ensure the heater is unplugged before cutting the cord, as per the recall notice.

Those without the original order number can still claim a refund ranging from $31.80 to $106.63, depending on the model, while those with the order number will receive a full refund of the purchase price. Refunds will be issued through e-checks, expected to arrive within 15 business days after the recall claim is processed.
