Each macOS version is named after a Californian landmark, and this year, Apple has selected "Tahoe," inspired by the stunning Lake Tahoe straddling California and Nevada. Famous for its year-round attractions, especially skiing in winter, Tahoe adds a layer of allure to macOS 26 that is hard to ignore.

Design Overhaul on the Horizon

While speculation predominantly circles iOS 26, macOS 26 is set for a significant design refresh. Compatibility Updates

macOS Tahoe may phase out support for several older Macs, including the 2018 MacBook Pro and various 2019 models. However, users of newer models, particularly those with the M1 chip and later, should anticipate compatibility with macOS 26.
