
Unveiling Hong Kong’s Creative Spirit: Comics and Movie Exhibition Lands in Seoul!

Excitement is in the air as the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) launches its innovative exhibition, “A Visual Voyage: Hong Kong and Scenes Hong Kong Comics x Movie Exhibition,” at the Insa Art Centre in Seoul, South Korea. This remarkable exhibition opened its doors on March 8 and will continue until March 30, captivating audiences with a unique blend of comics, film, and cutting-edge augmented reality animation.
Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo, this exhibition showcases the dynamic urban culture of Hong Kong through the creative expressions of renowned local talents. Featuring the works of celebrated comics artist Kwan-ho Cheung, imaginative illustrator Pearl Law, and talented Korean artist Kyutae Lee, visitors are invited to explore the rich tapestry of storytelling that both Hong Kong and Korea share.
Miss Winsome Au, the Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), highlighted the significance of the exhibition during its cocktail reception on March 15, reflecting on the role of arts and culture in enhancing Hong Kong’s international presence. She noted, “Our government is dedicated to promoting our vibrant arts scene and transforming Hong Kong into a premier tourism destination. This exhibition underscores our commitment to leveraging our innovative spirit and cultural assets.”
What makes this exhibition truly special is its interactive elements, which foster cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Korea while encouraging conversations about the intersection of visual arts and film. Admission is free, providing an accessible opportunity for everyone to enjoy this exquisite showcase.
Visitors are also invited to participate in a variety of spin-off events running on March 15 and 16. Highlights include live drawing sessions featuring Hong Kong's Pearl Law alongside Korean artist Zipcy, a captivating talk titled “City of Darkness: Crossover and Adaptation” led by Yu Yi, the author of “City of Darkness”, and hands-on comics and zine-making workshops led by Pearl Law that promise to spark creativity.
As the world continues to embrace a post-pandemic normalcy, this exhibition promises not only a feast for the eyes but also is a celebration of creativity and cultural dialogue between regions.
