DJI's Secret Weapon Unleashed!
Even though DJI hasn’t officially unveiled its first-ever 360-degree camera, the buzz around the DJI Osmo 360 is hard to ignore. Leakers Hakasushi and Igor Bogdanov have shared a treasure trove of photos showcasing this dual-lens prototype, offering a tantalizing glimpse into its features and design.
A Bold Move to Compete!
As DJI prepares to step into the ring against Insta360 and the upcoming GoPro Max 2, this camera promises to deliver stunning spherical photos and videos that are sure to turn heads. My colleague Vjeran Pavic even highlights the remarkable capabilities of these competing cameras.
Design That Stands Out!
Forget the elongated forms you see in other brands; DJI's latest creation boasts a compact, square design measuring approximately 6.5 centimeters wide and 9mm tall. This stylish look might just set it apart from the competition!
Tech Specs – What We Know So Far!
While specific details like resolution and framerate are still under wraps, this camera features three essential buttons for power, recording, and menu navigation, alongside a user-friendly touchscreen. It operates on interchangeable 7.55Wh batteries, similar to those found in DJI's Osmo Action series.
Exciting Features Await!
According to the Quick Start Guide, the intriguing 'OQ001' model includes microSD storage, USB-C charging, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 capabilities. Plus, it sports a unique tripod mount with four copper contacts that suggest potential for accessory enhancements, possibly allowing for additional power or data.
A Look Inside!
Hakasushi has also shared detailed teardown images, revealing that DJI incorporates a clever setup for its camera sensors, using a 45-degree mirror to capture light effectively, much like its rival Insta360. However, since this is still a prototype, changes to the internals are likely.
Will It Hit the Shelves?
In a surprising twist, renowned leaker Jasper Ellens has thrown some cold water on the hype, suggesting that DJI may opt not to release this camera—especially in the U.S. He mentions that the usual leaks about product launches are notably absent this time around, making it an even bigger mystery than the forthcoming DJI Mavic 4 or DJI Mini 5.
Uncharted Waters for DJI!
As DJI navigates these uncharted waters in the tech space, it'll be interesting to see whether this innovative 360-degree camera will eventually make its debut. Stay tuned for what could be a groundbreaking addition to the world of action cameras!
