The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) recently wrapped up an invigorating Travel Mission in India, showcasing the vibrant tourism landscape across five major cities: Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai, from August 18th to 26th. This initiative, armed with a dynamic delegation of 41 representatives from renowned attractions, hotels, airlines, and cruise lines, aimed to solidify connections with over 750 Indian travel agents.

Impressive Recovery and Growth

The statistics paint a picture of robust growth, as Indian visitor arrivals surged to 233,000 between January and July 2025—a staggering 94% recovery to pre-pandemic levels! With an 8% year-on-year increase, India has now clinched the 11th spot among Hong Kong's key visitor markets, with travelers indulging in an average stay of four nights. Additionally, connectivity is better than ever, boasting 53 weekly flights from major Indian cities, making Hong Kong the go-to international destination in Asia.

Rising Trends in Indian Travel

A fascinating trend is emerging: 43% of Indian tourists visiting Hong Kong are first-timers, and family/group travel is on a remarkable rise—from 29% to 43% within a quarter. Not to mention, India ranks fifth in per capita spending among visitors, signaling a strong demand for premium travel experiences. Business travel is also booming, with MICE travel witnessing a remarkable 33% year-on-year increase, bringing over 55,000 Indian delegates to Hong Kong in the first half of 2025!
