Trail Blazers Unveil Exciting Streaming and Broadcast Partnership for 2024-25 Season!

2024-09-24

Fans of the Portland Trail Blazers can breathe a sigh of relief! The team has officially rolled out their new streaming service and broadcast deal for the much-anticipated 2024-25 NBA season. Here’s everything you need to know about how to catch all the thrilling action live this winter!

In a joint announcement made by local sports analysts Dan Marang and Sean Highkin, as well as the team itself, it's evident that the Blazers are committed to providing their loyal fan base with fresh viewing options.

KATU Channel 2 Takes the Lead

Say goodbye to ROOT Sports Northwest! The Trail Blazers have secured a partnership with Portland’s ABC affiliate, KATU Channel 2, which will now air 81 of their regular-season games. Fans can also catch the games on KATU’s sister station, KUNP 16, ensuring that scheduling conflicts won’t disrupt the viewing experience.

But that’s not all! The newly established "Rip City Television Network" will feature games broadcasted in surrounding regions, extending the excitement beyond Portland. Some of the participating channels include:

KVAL 13 in Eugene KTVL 10 in Medford KUNS 51 in Seattle KEPR 19 in Yakima

In an exciting twist, the Blazers have introduced another option for fans living outside of Portland.

Introducing BlazerVision Streaming Service

BlazerVision emerges as the official online streaming service for the franchise, accessible through NBA.com. For just $120 for the season or a monthly fee of $19.99, die-hard fans can stream 81 games from their TVs, mobile devices, or computers. As an added bonus, fans will receive “2 tickets to 1 of 5 select Blazers games in the 2024-25 season” as part of the package!

However, fans should note that BlazerVision does come with some limitations. Unlike typical streaming services, it lacks DVR capabilities—players cannot pause or rewind live games. Instead, game replays will be available one hour post-game. Furthermore, streaming is restricted to one account per user, meaning no family-sharing options are available. Remember, the service is currently only available for fans residing within the Portland local market, covering parts of Oregon and Washington—Alaskan fans will have to wait for confirmation.

A Return to Familiar Roots

The Blazers' new broadcasting structure marks a nostalgic return to their roots, with a history of airing games on local networks. The team previously explored pay-per-view options and partnered with various cable providers over the years until NBC Sports Northwest gained exclusive streaming rights in 2017. Notably, BlazerVision had previously appeared in the early 2000s when it offered a pay-per-view cable service for non-broadcasted games.

It's also noteworthy that the abrupt end of the partnership with ROOT Sports, initially set to continue until next summer, created a buzz among fans—mostly due to the simultaneous exit of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken from the same network.

As the season approaches, fans are left buzzing with excitement over these new and innovative viewing options that promises to enhance the overall game-day experience. Are you ready to get your Blazers fix? Don’t miss out on what the 2024-25 season has in store!
