The Nyx capsule, part of Germany's innovative 'Mission Possible' initiative by The Exploration Company (TEC), embarked on its journey on June 23. After the Nyx capsule successfully orbited Earth twice, things took a drastic turn when an unspecified anomaly struck during its re-entry sequence. Charles M. Chafer, CEO and co-founder of Celestis, a partner in the mission and leaders in the field of space burials, revealed the distressing news after they lost communication with the vessel a few minutes before its anticipated splashdown.

Onboard the capsule were not just the ashes of the deceased, but also cannabis seeds intended for a groundbreaking citizen science project named Martian Grow. This initiative aims to explore the potential for growing cannabis on Mars, pushing the frontiers of agriculture in space.
