The police records indicate that Lacy faces several serious charges, including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run resulting in death, and reckless operation of a vehicle. According to a press release from Louisiana State Police, Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger at a high speed on Louisiana Highway 20. He reportedly recklessly passed several vehicles in a designated no-passing zone, crossing the centerline multiple times.

The driver of a northbound pickup truck attempted to avoid a collision by braking and swerving right, triggering a chain reaction. A 2017 Kia Cadenza, following closely behind, swerved left to dodge Lacy's Charger, which ultimately led to a head-on collision with a 2017 Kia Sorento traveling in the opposite direction. Tragically, the passenger in the Sorento, identified as Herman Hall from Thibodaux, Louisiana, succumbed to his injuries shortly after the crash.

Witnesses describe a harrowing scene, with the drivers of both the Cadenza and Sorento sustaining considerable injuries. Lacy, 24, is accused of driving away from the scene without offering assistance to the injured or alerting emergency services.

Lacy's representative, Rocky Arceneaux, stated that the athlete is "fully cooperating with the authorities" as the investigation unfolds.
