In a stunning display of offensive power, the 24th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders crushed the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions with a staggering 67-7 scoreline on Saturday night at Jones AT&T Stadium.
From the opening whistle, Texas Tech took command, scoring on every drive but the final kneel-down to seal their decisive victory. This marked their highest scoring game since they racked up 69 points against Stephen F. Austin in 2016, and their 60-point margin was the largest since 2005.
The game was briefly interrupted due to weather delays, forcing a shortened second half. Quarterback Behren Morton was exceptional, going 16-for-18 with 201 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the field with a lower-leg injury.
The Red Raiders' air attack was relentless, featuring touchdowns from Terrance Carter Jr. (two scores), Reggie Virgil, Coy Eakin, Leyton Stone, and Bryson Jones. Defensively, Amier Boyd contributed with a crucial interception, showcasing Texas Tech's depth on both sides of the ball.
As the game unfolded, it became a showcase of athletic prowess and strategic execution. The first half alone saw Texas Tech score on all eight possessions, including six touchdowns and two field goals, culminating in a commanding 47-0 lead at halftime.
Key plays included a 5-yard touchdown run from sophomore J'Koby Williams and a jaw-dropping 41-yard touchdown reception by Coy Eakin, both adding to the Red Raiders' growing lead.
The Golden Lions finally broke the shutout in the fourth quarter with a touchdown from Ellis Stewart, but it was far too late to alter the outcome of the game.
With exciting gameplay and exceptional performances, the Red Raiders not only scored big but also sent a strong message to their competition as they look to build on this momentum in the season ahead.
Overall, this game was a true testament to Texas Tech's capabilities and sets a high bar as they progress through the season.
