Get ready to witness a monumental moment in space history! SpaceX is set to launch its 500th orbital Falcon rocket this Wednesday from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. This exciting mission marks a significant milestone for the aerospace company as it celebrates 15 years since the first Falcon 9 rocket took flight.
The Countdown Begins!
The Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off at 4:40 p.m. PDT (7:40 p.m. EDT) on June 4. The mission, named Starlink 11-22, will add to SpaceX's impressive record, showcasing their dedication to expanding the Starlink satellite constellation.
A Look Back at Rocket 500's Journey!
This launch will also see the 26th flight of the Falcon 9 first stage booster B1063, which has an impressive track record. Previously, it has successfully completed missions for the National Reconnaissance Office, NASA’s DART spacecraft, as well as 17 Starlink missions.
The Race Is On for a Successful Recovery!
Approximately eight minutes post-launch, B1063 will aim for a landing on the droneship named 'Of Course I Still Love You.' If everything proceeds without a hitch, this will be the 134th landing on this vessel and a remarkable 457th booster landing overall!
