In a bold declaration, the Chicago Sky have reaffirmed their commitment to rising star Angel Reese as she navigates a rocky start to her WNBA career.

During a press conference, Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca stated that Reese remains firmly on the roster as the team reflects on a difficult season. Until I hear differently, that’s the direction we’re going to move, Pagliocca affirmed.

Reese, selected as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 draft, recently faced controversy after making remarks deemed harmful to team dynamics in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. In her candid comments, the LSU alum expressed her refusal to settle for the same s—t we did this year, hinting at the need for change in her circumstances.

However, Pagliocca put those rumors to rest, emphasizing Reese's undeniable talent: Angel is an ascending young talent who’s had two very good seasons here in Chicago. We’ve turned the page and moved on as a team. She’s a special player, and we have productive conversations daily.

Reese has since reached out with apologies to her teammates. Just hours after the Sky’s disappointing ending to their season, where they fell to the Liberty 91-86, the young star embarked on a private jet for a postseason getaway.

With two years remaining on her rookie contract, Reese is set to become a restricted free agent in the near future, but this summer promises to shake up the WNBA landscape.
