Sir Elton John has revealed that he can no longer watch his beloved sons play rugby due to significant eyesight issues caused by a severe infection last summer. The 78-year-old music icon expressed his distress over not being able to engage in activities he once cherished, saying, "I can't see TV, I can't read. I can't see my boys playing rugby and soccer."

In a candid interview with The Times, Elton shared the emotional toll this experience has taken on him. He stated that since July, his vision has been severely affected, leaving him with only limited sight in one eye. Despite this challenge, he strives to maintain a positive outlook, reminding himself of the blessings in his life, including his supportive family. "You have to get used to it, because I'm lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family," he reflected.

Elton’s eyesight problems have also hampered his music career, with the star admitting that he has faced difficulties completing his latest album due to these issues. However, there was a silver lining as he recently released a collaborative album titled *Who Believes In Angels?* with Brandi Carlile. Working with trusted producer Andrew Watt and his long-time songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, Elton describes the creative process as challenging but ultimately rewarding, noting frustrations that arose during production.

He commented, "If I want to make a great album at my age, I’ve got to be told the truth. It’s a partnership, and sometimes that means facing your own fears and doubts." Indeed, the new album has largely received critical acclaim, with reviewers praising its emotional depth and return to his signature sound from the 1970s.

Adding to his impressive accolades, his compilation album *Diamonds* recently shot to number one on the charts, marking an extraordinary milestone in his illustrious career. This collection includes fan favorites like "Tiny Dancer" and "Rocket Man" and has solidified Elton's status, earning him a total of nine number one albums.

In a career filled with numerous achievements, Elton John also celebrated a significant personal milestone last year by winning his first Emmy Award, which granted him EGOT status—an achievement marking his membership in the elite group of performers awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Despite the challenges he faces with his eyesight, Elton John remains an enduring figure in music and a devoted family man, channeling his experiences into his work and finding comfort in the love and support of those around him.
