SALT LAKE CITY — This past weekend, the bright lights of college football exposed some serious flaws in two Power Four teams: Utah and Illinois. Despite being highly ranked, they faced unexpected downfalls that shook up the rankings.

Utah struggled mightily, with their usually reliable defense faltering late in the game against Texas Tech. The late-game surge allowed the Red Raiders to pull off a commanding victory, leaving Utah fans bewildered.

However, the real shocker came from Indiana, where the Hoosiers annihilated Illinois in a jaw-dropping 63-10 blowout. Illinois, considered a top-10 team, seemed to unravel spectacularly, raising eyebrows and questions about their true standing in the league.

Here's my latest AP Top 25 ballot, reflecting the latest developments in college football.

1. Ohio State

Despite a bye week, Ohio State's position is under scrutiny, especially with Michigan's rookie quarterback Bryce Underwood showing impressive progress. This looming rivalry is heating up!

2. LSU

The Tigers enjoyed a soft matchup against an FCS opponent, but it's time to move on.

3. Oregon

After a commanding win over Oregon State, I’ve moved the Ducks up in my rankings. With quarterback Dante Moore throwing four touchdown passes, they’re gaining momentum.

4. Miami

Miami continues to shine, solidifying its place as one of the nation’s elite teams. Their strong victory in a heated rivalry showcases their potential.

5. Georgia

The Bulldogs had a bye week but slipped two spots in my rankings. While Kirby Smart's leadership is irrefutable, for now, a few other teams have outshined them.

6. Florida State

The Seminoles effortlessly took down Kent State, scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter alone. They’re making a statement!

7. Oklahoma

Oklahoma faced some controversial officiating during their win over Auburn, but with John Mateer leading the charge, they remain formidable contenders.

8. Penn State

With an off week behind them, the Nittany Lions are gearing up for an important matchup against Oregon. It’s a crucial moment to define their season.

9. Texas A&M

Also on a break, the Aggies are preparing for a challenging clash against Auburn—this could be a pivotal moment for them.

10. Texas Tech

The well-funded Red Raiders are proving that their strategy is paying off, showcasing a strong defense and a resilient offense that keeps winning, even without their starting quarterback. They’re emerging as the frontrunners in the Big 12.
