A Disturbing Development for Fans

In a shocking twist, Joe Seiders, the drummer for the indie rock band New Pornographers, has been arrested on grave charges of possessing child pornography. This alarming news comes from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, revealing that Seiders was taken into custody on April 9, with bail set at a staggering $1 million.

Band's Heartbreaking Response

The New Pornographers expressed their devastation in a public statement, stating: "Everyone in the band is absolutely shocked, horrified, and devastated by the news of the charges against Joe Seiders—and we have immediately severed all ties with him. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by his actions." This sentiment underscores the profound impact of Seiders' alleged crimes on both the band and their fans.

The Investigation Unfolds

The investigation started after police were alerted to suspicious activity at a Chick-fil-A in Palm Desert, California. On April 7, an 11-year-old boy reported that an unknown man had recorded him on a cell phone while he was in the restroom. Two days later, staff at the same location reported seeing a man, later identified as Seiders, behaving suspiciously with minors.

What Authorities Found

Following his arrest, a thorough search of Seiders' residence, vehicle, and phone yielded further evidence linking him to the incidents, as well as additional crimes. Apart from the felony charge related to child pornography, Seiders is facing misdemeanor charges for annoying/molesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy.

Seiders' Musical Journey

Seiders joined the New Pornographers in 2014, stepping in for longtime drummer Kurt Dahle. He contributed to significant albums such as "Whiteout Conditions" in 2017, "In the Morse Code of Brake Lights" in 2019, and their latest release, "Continue as a Guest" in 2023, alongside touring with the band extensively.
