Samsung is on a mission to refine its Galaxy smartphones, but they’re trying to figure out whether users prioritize sleekness over functionality. In a bold move, the tech giant is running a survey that dives deep into whether Galaxy owners would prefer proper Qi2 magnet support, famously similar to Apple's MagSafe, over maintaining ultra-slim devices.

The survey, accessible through the Samsung Members app, directly addresses this dilemma. One of the burning questions posed to users is whether having Qi2 technology integrated would minimize the hassles associated with wireless charging only. But it goes even further.

Samsung is exploring the trade-offs between thickness and the convenience of integrated magnets. Participants are asked: "Would you prefer to have magnets built into your phone, even if it meant sacrificing some slimness?" Users can express their preferences across a range of options, including how much thicker they’re willing to go.

Currently, Samsung has opted to keep the magnets away from their devices, relegating them to official cases and relying on third-party solutions. While the latest Galaxy S25 series and new foldable models are certified as "Qi 2.1.0," they cleverly avoid including magnets by using a “Qi2 Ready” designation.

This survey might just be a preliminary step, but it shows Samsung’s willingness to engage with its community over design choices. Will they ultimately decide to integrate Qi2 magnets into their smartphones? Only time will tell!

In more news, Samsung is also making strides in recovering its foothold in the global smartphone market amidst ongoing tariff uncertainties, and hints are circulating about the upcoming Galaxy S26, which promises exciting camera advancements and the introduction of a new Galaxy Ring. Stay tuned!
