China Eastern Airlines is making headlines with a groundbreaking decision that signals a monumental step for the Chinese aviation industry. The airline has announced plans to introduce the COMAC C919 for scheduled operations to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) starting in early 2025, marking the aircraft's first commercial flights outside of mainland China.

According to reports from AeroRoutes, the new service will replace the current Airbus A321 aircraft on China Eastern's flight MU721 from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) to HKG, and MU722 for the return journey.
