Panthers Prioritize Offense in Draft, but Defense is Key!

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a record-breaking season—of the wrong kind. After allowing the most points in NFL history in a single season, fans were eager to see the team bolster their defense. However, with the eighth overall pick in this year's draft, the Panthers surprised everyone by selecting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan instead.

General Manager Dan Morgan defended the decision, stating that McMillan brings a "different dimension to our offense." This addition is expected to aid the growth of quarterback Bryce Young, suggesting that a stronger offensive lineup could alleviate some of the pressure on the beleaguered defense.

Morgan's Assurance on Defensive Needs

Despite the focus on offense, Morgan assured fans that the defense is still very much on their radar. "It’s still a need, and you know we have eight more picks," he said during a press conference. He emphasized the importance of selecting the best available player but also reassured that the team's defensive weaknesses will be addressed.

Morgan noted, "We did attack our defensive needs through free agency. And again, we have eight picks left, and our board has a lot of defensive guys on there as well. So, it’s definitely not something that we’re going to neglect."

What’s Next for the Panthers?

Now, the Panthers wait with anticipation for their next selection at No. 57. With eight picks at their disposal, fans are hopeful that the team will leverage their draft capital to snag some much-needed defensive talent earlier than expected.

Stay tuned as the Panthers make strategic moves to reshape their roster—because it looks like this season could be all about balance!
