Recently made available, it comes alongside a cutting-edge AI-powered Windows search upgrade and a novel Click to Do feature, reminiscent of Google’s Circle to Search.

Delayed But Worth the Wait!

Initially set to debut in June alongside Copilot Plus PCs, Recall faced delays due to security concerns raised by experts. Originally slated for testing in October, Microsoft pushed it to November to enhance security. After months of reworking, Recall has emerged stronger and safer, now requiring users to opt in, reassuring those wary of privacy issues.

In my trial run last year, I found Recall to be a fascinating blend of creepy and clever. This tech upgrade enhances the Windows search interface, allowing for a more natural interaction with your files, though it raises significant privacy concerns as it tracks and stores detailed information about your usage.

Security Researchers Weigh In!

Security expert Kevin Beaumont, who initially flagged issues with Recall, says Microsoft has made remarkable strides in securing the feature. It now boasts encrypted databases and attempts to filter sensitive data by default. However, Beaumont cautions that filtering sensitive content may still be inconsistent.

AI-Powered Search Enhancements!

Alongside Recall, AI advancements have transformed the Windows search feature on Copilot Plus PCs. Now, you can use natural language to conduct searches across File Explorer and the Windows search box, eliminating the need to remember file names or specific settings. If you’re searching for that adorable picture of a brown dog, simply type "brown dog", and voilà!

Introducing Click to Do!

But that’s not all! Microsoft also launched Click to Do, an innovative feature similar to Google’s search method. Activated with a simple Windows key + left mouse click, it offers quick actions based on the text or images you see, such as summarizing content or enhancing images.

Availability and Future Plans!

Both Recall and the revamped search experience, along with Click to Do, are available now across all Copilot Plus PCs. However, Click to Do functionality is currently limited to Qualcomm-powered devices, with broader support coming soon for AMD and Intel models. Keep in mind, these features will roll out in various languages, although certain regions such as the EU and others won’t see them until later this year.
