In a shocking turn of events, hundreds of Microsoft 365 users are voicing their frustrations over unexpected outages impacting popular applications like Outlook and Teams.
Social media platforms, particularly X, have been inundated with posts from confused and angry users, struggling to access these vital tools.
"Why is this happening, please, when I [use] my android Outlook?" one user lamented, sharing a video of a blank screen during a futile attempt to use the email app.
Another user exclaimed, "OMFG I hate Microsoft Word!!!! Has it always sucked this bad?" revealing the widespread dissatisfaction.
Reports pouring in were alarming, with Downdetector highlighting a surge in issues just before 7 PM EST, tallying over 1,400 complaints. A staggering 60% of these complaints were linked to Outlook, 26% to Exchange, and 15% related to Microsoft's website overall.
Microsoft acknowledged the situation, issuing a service status update stating, "We're having issues, but we're working on it." They confirmed they were investigating the reported problems, particularly concerning Teams and Exchange.
At 5:45 PM EST, Microsoft warned users that their Microsoft 365 services were experiencing significant disruptions. A brief message indicated, "Users may experience degraded functionality for some Microsoft 365 apps," highlighted by a red warning.
By 8:30 PM, the company announced that the majority of issues had been resolved, albeit admitting that users might still face occasional crashes with the Microsoft Teams desktop app.
Microsoft also revealed they were working on a new build version to rectify the persistent Teams troubles, with expectations to roll this out by June 18, 2025.
Despite claims that Outlook was operational, many users continued to report difficulties accessing the email service online.
Earlier in the week, the Microsoft 365 team shared a potential workaround for Outlook crashes, stating, "This issue occurs because Outlook cannot open the Forms Library." They outlined steps to create a FORMS2 folder, urging users to follow the instructions carefully.
With over two million companies relying on Microsoft 365 across the globe, including more than a million businesses in the US alone, the stakes are high for the tech giant. DailyMail.com has reached out to Microsoft for further comments on this troubling situation.
