Mel Gibson revealed that his Malibu residence was among the countless homes ravaged by the recent wildfires sweeping across the Los Angeles area. The actor and director shared his heartbreaking experience during a candid interview with NewsNation.

While speaking to host Joe Rogan on his podcast, Gibson recounted the moment he learned of the tragic fate that awaited his home. He recalled, “I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire. I thought, ‘Eh, I wonder if my place is still there.’ When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.”

Describing the aftermath, Gibson noted, “I have never seen a place so perfectly burned; you could put it in an urn. [The area] was completely toasted. I’ve never seen such a complete burn.” Despite the loss, Gibson attempted to find a silver lining, joking about how he has been “relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”

Tragically, Gibson is not alone in this disaster. Other celebrities who suffered significant losses due to the wildfires include John Goodman, Anthony Hopkins, Billy Crystal, Eugene Levy, Ed Harris, Milo Ventimiglia, Miles Teller, and Anna Faris. The sheer scope of the devastation leaves many in the entertainment industry grappling with the aftermath.

During his appearance on *The Joe Rogan Experience*, Gibson did not shy away from addressing the state's leadership. He criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for his failure to implement effective wildfire prevention measures, asserting, “In 2019, I think Newsom said, you know, ‘I’m going to take care of the forest and maintain the forest,’ and he didn’t do anything. I think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel… It’s sad. The place is just on fire.”

As wildfires continue to wreak havoc in California, many are left questioning the state’s preparedness and response strategies. Local authorities and environmental experts urge residents to stay informed and prepared as they confront the ongoing threat of devastating wildfires amid climate change challenges.

Gibson’s story serves as a stark reminder of the personal toll these natural disasters inflict, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to safeguard communities from potential calamities in the future.
