Massive Drug Bust in Hong Kong: Customs Seizes $15 Million in Ketamine, Arrests 27-Year-Old Suspect

In a significant operation, Hong Kong Customs struck a blow against drug trafficking by seizing approximately 32 kilograms of suspected ketamine valued at around $15 million. This bust occurred in the bustling districts of Yau Tong, Aberdeen, and Kwun Tong on September 26.

The seizure was the result of extensive investigations and meticulous data analysis by Customs officials, leading them to two mini-storage facilities in Yau Tong and Aberdeen. Inside, they discovered around 9 kilograms of suspected ketamine cleverly concealed in protein powder packaging within carton boxes.

Following the warehouse searches, authorities arrested a 27-year-old man linked to the operation in Kwun Tong. After his apprehension, Customs officials conducted a search of an industrial unit in the same district, where they uncovered an additional 8 kilograms of suspected ketamine alongside various drug packaging paraphernalia.

The arrested individual now faces serious charges, including three counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. He is set to appear at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts on September 28. Under the stringent Dangerous Drugs Ordinance in Hong Kong, charges of this nature carry severe consequences, with the maximum penalty being up to $5 million in fines and life imprisonment.
