Major Shakeup at Kick Sauber
In a significant announcement, Kick Sauber has confirmed that Alessandro Alunni Bravi will step down from his role as Team Representative and Managing Director at the end of January 2025. This comes as the iconic Formula 1 team prepares for a pivotal transition into its new phase as Audi’s works outfit in 2026.
Alunni Bravi has been a pivotal figure for the team since he joined in 2017 as General Counsel and Board Member. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Managing Director in 2022, where he played a crucial role overseeing marketing, communications, and sales. In 2023, he transitioned to the position of Team Representative, serving as the public face of the organization during race weekends and beyond.
Reflecting on his time at Sauber, Alunni Bravi expressed his mixed emotions about leaving. "Since I joined in 2017, I have seen this team grow and change beyond what anyone could have imagined,” he remarked. “While it’s bittersweet to conclude my journey here, I am proud to have represented such a dedicated group of people.”
He specifically thanked Finn Rausing, and all team members, emphasizing that Sauber is more than just a workplace; it’s a family that has a bright future ahead of it. His departure signals a new chapter, as he plans to embark on new ventures.
Mattia Binotto, Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer at Sauber Motorsport, praised Alunni Bravi for his unwavering commitment to the team. "Alessandro has been an integral part of Sauber, navigating us through both challenging and exhilarating times. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors," Binotto noted.
This leadership change comes at a crucial juncture for Kick Sauber, as the team aims to position itself strongly for a competitive 2025 season. The upcoming season will also see the introduction of a brand-new driver lineup, featuring Nico Hulkenberg joining from Haas and rookie Gabriel Bortoleto stepping up after clinching the 2024 Formula 2 championship. As changes unfold, fans will be eagerly watching how Kick Sauber transitions into its new identity under Audi’s ownership.
