In a significant move, the University of Iowa has announced a leadership change within its men's basketball program, as revealed by Beth Goetz, the Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics, last Friday.

"Fran McCaffery has been an integral part of our Hawkeye family for the past 15 years. He is a tremendous coach and teacher, and we are grateful for the positive impact he has made on the institution and the community," stated Goetz. During his tenure, McCaffery achieved a remarkable 297 victories, making him the winningest coach in Iowa's history. Under his leadership, seven players have reached first-team All-Big Ten status, which includes four consensus All-Americans. Notably, Luka Garza, who won both the National and Big Ten Player of the Year titles in 2020 and 2021, flourished under McCaffery's guidance.
