In a move that might ruffle some feathers, iOS 26 automatically applies a blur effect to your Lock Screen wallpaper when the Always On Display is active. This tweak enhances the visibility of the clock and widgets, but it also compromises the aesthetic for those who enjoy showcasing their favorite images. Thankfully, there’s a way around this!

Customization at Your Fingertips!

While the customization options for Always On Display have always been fairly limited, they provide enough flexibility to suit different preferences. Users could decide whether to show their wallpaper and notifications, allowing for a clean, utilitarian screen—or one that showcases their personalized touch.

Your Choice: Blur or Clarity?

The new blur effect in iOS 26 aims to improve legibility, but it also transforms the look of your Lock Screen. Personally, I’d prefer a plain display over a blurred version of my cherished wallpaper! Luckily, Apple includes an option in the Settings menu where you can disable the blur. Just navigate to Settings > Display & Brightness > Always On Display to revert back to a clear wallpaper view.
