Pigeons Take Flight: Not Your Average Delta Experience!
In a wild turn of events on Saturday, a routine Delta flight transformed into absolute mayhem when two unexpected feathered guests—a pair of pigeons—decided to make themselves at home in the main cabin.
It all started when passenger Tom Caw spotted the first pigeon just as the plane prepared for takeoff from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. Instead of soaring toward Madison, Wisconsin, the pilot quickly radioed the control tower and made the unprecedented decision to return to the gate, allowing ground staff to remove the unwelcome guest.
But the drama didn’t end there! As the flight taxied for takeoff once more, a second pigeon swooped down the aisle, triggering a wave of alarm among startled passengers, evident from the viral videos Caw shared on Instagram.
Caw recounted the extraordinary moment, noting, "The pilot said when he radioed the control tower about us coming back due to a pigeon, the guy said that was a first for him!" Interestingly, the pilot mentioned this was actually his second encounter with flying pigeons in just half an hour!
In response to the bizarre incident, Delta Airlines issued an official apology for the disruption, acknowledging the quick actions of both staff and passengers. "Delta appreciates the careful actions of our people and our customers to safely remove two birds from the aircraft prior to departure, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel," the statement read.
Ultimately, a diligent baggage handler was able to successfully remove the second pigeon, ending the chaos. Caw humorously speculated about the birds' motives, quipping, "My guess is the pigeons were tired of flying and wanted snacks. They didn’t know this flight to MSN is too short for Delta to offer beverage/snack service!"
With passengers left buzzing about the avian escapade, this Delta flight will undoubtedly be remembered for its unexpected wildlife intervention!
