Imagine swapping your stylish prescription glasses for a futuristic pair that looks like they belong in a sci-fi movie. That's exactly what I did with Google's Android XR glasses, and I quickly realized there’s more than meets the eye.

At first glance, these glasses display basic information on the right lens—time, weather, and a slew of notifications. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I snapped a photo and instantly viewed it in full color right in my line of sight. For a moment, I felt like I was on a covert mission, channeling my inner action hero while nestled in a humble shed at the Google I/O developer conference.

Google’s Game-Changing Tech

The Android XR glasses are still in prototype phase, developed in collaboration with tech giants Samsung and Qualcomm. They maintain an almost conventional appearance, looking like your average pair of prescription frames—until you realize they’re armed with cutting-edge technology. Google has plans to collaborate with popular eyewear brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for stylish designs when these glasses officially launch.
