Injury Setbacks Shake Texans' Roster Ahead of Training Camp!

Excitement is in the air as the Houston Texans gear up for their first training camp practice on Wednesday, but the excitement is overshadowed by significant injury announcements.

In a surprising move, standout running back Joe Mixon has been placed on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list. This means he won't be participating in practices as the team prepares for the upcoming season. But he isn't the only one feeling the heat—key players Dameon Pierce and J.J. Taylor will also be sidelined, both landing on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

However, there’s a glimmer of hope! All three players can be activated at any moment during camp, giving fans a reason to stay optimistic.

Who's Joining Mixon on the Injury List?

The Texans aren't just facing issues with their star running backs. A total of 11 players have been shuffled onto various injury lists. Among them are defensive ends Denico Autry and Derek Barnett, offensive tackle Trent Brown, and center Eli Cox. Not to mention, wide receiver Tank Dell, defensive tackles Foley Fatukasi and Kurt Hinish, linebacker K.C. Ossai, and defensive back Jimmie Ward are all currently on the PUP list.

To make matters even more complicated, cornerback Alijah Huzzie has joined Joe Mixon on the NFI list, further depleting the roster ahead of the new season.

Roster Changes as Texans Bolster Their Defense!

In a strategic move to strengthen their defense, the Texans have also waived rookie cornerback Keydrain Calligan to make room for veteran addition Arthur Maulet. This move suggests a shift towards experience as the team navigates through potential struggles related to injuries.

As the Texans step onto the practice field, fans and analysts alike will be eagerly watching to see how these roster changes unfold and if any of the injured players will make a timely return. Stay tuned for updates as the season approaches!
