Hong Kong is set to captivate the entertainment world once more as the highly anticipated Entertainment Expo 2025 makes its return! Scheduled from March 16 to April 27, 2025, this event promises to significantly contribute to the development of Hong Kong's vibrant entertainment sector, offering a fresh outlook for industry insiders.

This year’s Expo features an impressive line-up of nine notable events, aimed at fostering collaboration across regions and enhancing digital transformation opportunities in the entertainment field. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is the mastermind behind this grand event, in partnership with the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and various governmental bodies, including the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.

Kicking off the Expo, a launch ceremony will occur on March 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), with renowned singer and actor Leon Lai continuing his role as the entertainment ambassador for Hong Kong.

Mark your calendars for the 29th Filmart, taking place from March 17 to 20 at the HKCEC! This year, the market will welcome over 750 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, featuring exciting new pavilions from Australia, Cambodia, France, India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, among others.

With a focus on fostering international collaborations, several initiatives will be launched, including a "Producers Connect" program that facilitates networking opportunities through workshops and discussions tailored for emerging and established industry talents.

Moreover, addressing the urgent need for adaptation to digital advancements, the HKTDC will unveil an AI hub pilot program. This initiative, designed to integrate AI into the filmmaking process, will showcase groundbreaking solutions from leading tech companies and local film schools.

Diving into EntertainmentPulse and Beyond

The four-day EntertainmentPulse conference is another highlight, gathering industry leaders to discuss the future of Asian markets. Key themes will range from animation to video streaming, culminating in a special focus on leveraging AI within co-productions, with esteemed speaker Yu Zhixin sharing insights from Hong Kong’s hit animation Ne Zha 2.

Celebrating Film Through the HK International Film Festival

From April 10 to 21, the 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) will celebrate cinematic artistry under the theme "Dialogue - Conversation of Film". The festival will feature luminary Angela Yuen as ambassador and pay homage to legendary filmmaker Louis Koo through a curated review of his iconic works.

Key figures such as Catalonian director Albert Serra and Finnish filmmaker Juho Kuosmanen will also lead masterclasses, further enriching the cinematic dialogue.

The Glitz of the Hong Kong Film Awards

The prestigious 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards will be held on April 27 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre—an event that promises to showcase the industry’s best. Asian Film Awards and Digital Entertainment Summit
