Hong Kong's Remarkable Rise
In a stunning leap, Hong Kong has climbed to the fourth spot in the World Talent Ranking 2025, as unveiled by the International Institute for Management Development on Tuesday. This marks a significant improvement from its ninth position just a year ago—an all-time high for the city!
Leading Asia in Talent Competitiveness
According to the Switzerland-based business school, Hong Kong's rise to the top position in Asia reflects its concerted efforts in nurturing talent. The report highlights that the city has made strides in all three key factors of talent competitiveness for the second consecutive year.
Key Indicators of Growth
In the rankings, Hong Kong has seen its appeal soar to 20th place, while it impressively climbed to third in 'readiness' and 12th in 'investment and development.' Furthermore, the city is leading the world when it comes to the number of science graduates, ranking third for finance skills availability, and securing fifth place for both management remuneration and the effectiveness of management education.
Government Policies Paying Off
A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government stated that these impressive results underscore the success of their policies in education, innovation, and talent admission, indicating that they are on the right track.
A Surge in Talent Applications
As of the end of August this year, the demand for talent in Hong Kong has surged, with over 520,000 applications submitted under various talent admission schemes. Out of these, more than 350,000 applications received approval, and over 230,000 skilled individuals have made their way to the vibrant city through these programs.
