This summer, the vibrant art of Hong Kong cinema is making waves once again with the re-launch of "Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema," running from September 18 to 20. This unique film program promises to highlight the evolution and innovation of Hong Kong's filmmaking, featuring a curated lineup of six remarkable contemporary films.

At the opening reception, Mr. Gavin Yeung, Acting Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto, expressed enthusiasm for the event's return. He emphasized how the program celebrates the deep cultural connections between Hong Kong and Montreal, aiming to foster a greater appreciation for Hong Kong cinema among international audiences. "We hope to take viewers on a journey through the evolution of Hong Kong cinema, showcasing its rich legacy and the creative sparks igniting a new era," said Yeung.

This year's Montreal event will also feature an impressive delegation of Hong Kong talent including actress Michelle Wai, actor Dylan So, and director Chan Tai-lee. Launched in 2022, "Making Waves" has quickly become a vital platform for showcasing the dynamic film culture of Hong Kong, reaching 15 international cities and growing every year. Sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency and presented by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society with support from the Toronto ETO, this program is set to thrill film enthusiasts in Montreal.
