The airline resumed its flights precisely in time to celebrate the Lunar New Year, marking a significant re-introduction of a highly sought-after route that had been dormant for six long years.

A Festive Welcome!

To mark this momentous occasion, the inaugural flight was celebrated with vibrant festivities both in Hong Kong and upon landing at Gold Coast Airport (OOL). Passengers were treated to a special send-off, reminding everyone that travel is back and better than ever! After launching its service on January 17, 2025, Hong Kong Airlines now operates flights four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, making it easier for travelers from Hong Kong to enjoy the sandy beaches and theme parks of Australia.

Captain and President of Hong Kong Airlines, Mr. Sun, personally piloted the maiden flight. At the celebratory ceremony, he expressed the airline's commitment to delivering high-quality experiences for its passengers, including generous baggage allowances, delicious complimentary meals, and cozy seating arrangements designed for comfort on long journeys.

A Seasonal Gold Coast Getaway!

This seasonal service coincides with the peak travel season for the Lunar New Year, catering to enthusiastic travelers looking to experience Australia’s summer. The flight HX15 took off from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) at 22:22, reaching the Gold Coast in just over eight hours. The return flight, HX16, left the Gold Coast at 11:38 the following day, ensuring a smooth round trip for holidaymakers.

Flying aboard a 2015 Airbus A330-300, this aircraft, registered as B-LHG, features a cozy two-class cabin accommodating 292 passengers: 32 in business and 260 in economy. With a modern fleet of 34 aircraft, Hong Kong Airlines boasts a diverse array that includes Airbus A320s, A321s, and A330s, enhancing its operational capabilities.

A Long-Awaited Return to Long-Haul Travel!
